Project Istwa is dedicated to fostering the agency, awareness, and self-expression of Haitian youth through the use of photography as both a community building activity and an empowering exercise to reinforce the children's knowledge that their perspectives and ideas matter. For several years, Groundswell team members have arrived in Haiti annually to:

+ Lead 10-day PhotoVoice workshops with youth from economically vulnerable communities in the heart of Port-au-Prince
+ Facilitate conversations about social justice, equity, and agency for participating children
+ Support students in curating an exhibit focused on the challenges, opportunities, and changemakers in their communities, to raise awareness, and inspire action
+ Collaborate on an exhibit of student art attended by over 50 Haitian community leaders
